Upon full operation, the four facilities together will be capable of processing around 45,000 tonnes of additional carton packages. This will enable global carton packaging recycling to exceed 50 billion per year.
Lars Holmquist, EVP for Sustainability and Communications, Tetra Pak noted that the investments in collaboration with food manufacturers, municipalities and recyclers are a testament to the need of a joint drive to achieve the ultimate ambition of a world which collects and recycles all carton packages with nothing ending up as litter.
Over the past decade, Tetra Pak has been actively investing and partnering with others to boost carton package recycling in over 170 global recycling facilities.
