SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading hygiene and health company Essity announced its decision to invest around Euro 11 million in its Hondouville, France mill to boost recycling of food and beverage cartons at the facility. The new improved facility is expected to begin operations during the first half of 2022.
The Hondouville mill currently recycles more than 63% of all cartons that are sorted, collected and recycled, according to most recent data provided by CITEO and Alliance Carton Nature. Following this investment, the mill will be capable of extracting 98% of paper fibers contained in food and beverage cartons. It will boost the mill’s carton recycling capacity to approximately 24,000 tons per year. The fibers from these cartons will be used in the manufacture of new branded products.

The Stockholm, Sweden-headquartered Essity had reported sales of approximately Eur 11.6 billion during the previous year.
