SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc. - the world’s leading aluminum rolling and recycling company, announced that its Zhenjiang Plant in Jiangsu Province, China has earned the Performance Standard Certification from the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). With this, both its Chinese plants in Zhenjiang and Changzhou have earned the prestigious certification.

The certification is yet another milestone in the company’s journey towards getting all of its worldwide plants certified. All of the Novelis’ Korean and European manufacturing facilities have already obtained both the ASI Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Certifications. The Pindamonhangaba facility in Brazil along with 14 scrap collection centres hold Performance Standard certification. Also, Novelis’ three plants in North America hold Performance Standard Certification.
James Liu, Managing Director of Novelis China stated that the company is delighted to have its Zhenjiang plant meet ASI’s environmental, social and governance standards. Furthermore, he reiterated the commitment to advance use of low-carbon, sustainable aluminum solutions in order to accelerate the transition to a circular economy with the support from various stakeholders in China.
