International Paper Achieved Key Milestone by Conserving One Million Acres of Forestland
IP has managed to champion the sustainable management of natural resources for more than 125 years.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): International Paper (IP), based in Memphis, Tennessee, reported that it had surpassed its sustainability target of preserving and rehabilitating one million acres of forestland. The company's dedication to climate resiliency and environmental sustainability is demonstrated by this milestone accomplishment.
In order to preserve nature and biodiversity, the corporation had earlier in 2024 announced that it will invest $15.3 million in renewing strategic partnerships with important conservation partners, such as the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) also acknowledged IP's cooperative approach to forest and wildlife protection in Southeast U.S. woods.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote bird-friendly forest management practices, the corporation partnered with the American Bird Conservancy to safeguard endangered bird species throughout the U.S. South.
For over 125 years, IP has been able to promote the sustainable management of natural resources.
International Paper's Chief Sustainability Officer, Sophie Beckham, expressed the company's excitement at having recovered about 1,158,000 acres in total, six years ahead of schedule. Reaching this milestone demonstrates the company's continued dedication to protecting the environment, Beckham continued.
