At its Neuf-Brisach facility in France, the company has previously processed sizable amounts of LIBS-sorted scrap to produce premium aluminum solutions. Aluminum scrap can be sorted quickly and precisely thanks to the LIBS sorting process.
Constellium SE and OSR GmbH & Co. KG will keep refining the technology in order to extract valuable aluminum from automobiles that are nearing the end of their useful lives.
According to Dieter Holl, Vice President Global Automotive at Constellium, the cutting-edge technique will make it possible to recover premium alloys from pre-consumer waste. In turn, this will enable its clients reach sustainability objectives and drastically lower carbon footprint, he continued.
