worldsteel Announced List of Top Ten Steel Producing Countries in October

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has released the list of top 10 steel producing nations during the month of October this year.

With its output showing a little 2.9% growth over the previous year, China topped the list. During the month, the nation produced 81.9 million tons of crude steel. The overall output for the first 10 months of this year was 850.7 Mt, which was 3.0% less than the same period the previous year.

At 12.5 Mt, India's anticipated output showed a slight increase of 1.70% compared to the same month the previous year. From January to October of 24th, the nation produced 123.0 million tons of steel. In October of this year, Japan's overall annual output was down 3.7% from the previous year to 70.2 Mt, while its monthly output decreased 7.8% to 6.9 Mt.

The U.S. produced 6.6 Mt of steel, down by 2.0% when compared with the prior year. Russia is estimated to have produced 5.6 Mt, significantly down year-on-year. The output by other countries in the top ten list in Mt is as follows: South Korea (5.4), Germany (3.2), Turkiye (3.0), Brazil (3.1) and Iran (3.0).

Iran saw the biggest decline in steel production during the month, dropping 15.2% year over year among the top ten steel-producing countries. However, Brazilian output increased the greatest, seeing a 16.2% year-over-year increase.
