worldsteel Report Highlights Sustainability Performance of the Steel Industry

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The "Sustainability indicators 2024 report," released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), focuses on the sustainability performance of the global steel sector. The paper gives a thorough overview of the current state of several sustainability projects.

When compared to the previous year, the carbon dioxide emissions intensity of the global steel sector in 2023 stayed constant at 1.92 tons of carbon dioxide per tonne of crude steel cast. The energy intensity per tonne of crude steel cast increased slightly from 21.01 to 21.27 GJ. According to the Worldsteel survey, the material efficiency also improved, rising from 97.59 to 98.15.
