Tetra Pak Joined Forces with Yellow Dreams to Boost Carton Recycling Capacity

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tetra Pak and Yellow Dreams jointly established a new €3 million recycling facility in Ittervoort, the Netherlands, which is scheduled to start up in the second half of 2025.

Up to 20,000 tonnes of polyAI from discarded beverage cartons can be produced annually at the factory, which is well situated close to the borders of Germany and Belarus. The joint firm uses state-of-the-art technology to turn polyAI into a variety of products, such as large-format 3D printed objects, reusable pallets, and interiors.

This is the nation's second Tetra Pak facility. At the Recon Polymers factory in Roosendaal, it already operates a facility with an 8,000-ton capacity. Since 2019, it has been working with Recon Polymers to advance the polyAI recycling technology, which eventually led to the development of a commercial facility in Roosendaal.

The company's continued efforts in the area demonstrate its dedication to encouraging sustainable practices and furthering beverage carton recycling.

According to Kinga Sieradzon, vice president of Collection & Recycling at Tetra Pak, the new facility is expected to greatly increase the area's capacity to recycle used beverage cartons. The partnership with Yellow Dreams offers a chance to surpass the Netherlands' stated recycling goals.
