SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Sonoco- the global packaging solutions leader named Ernest Haynes as the President of Sonoco Metal Packaging- the leading manufacturer of sustainable metal packaging and the largest aerosol can producer in North America. He replaces Jim Peterson, who leaves after more than 15 years of leadership.
The company press release stated that Haynes will report directly to Howard Coker, Sonoco President and CEO and will head the newly acquired Metal Packaging business. He will work closely with the Metal Packaging team to continue delivering best-in-class solutions for customers. Moreover, he will be responsible for integration of the acquired business, in line with the financial and operational goal.

Howard Coker commented that the Metal Packaging business is positioned for future success with Ernest at the helm. He congratulated Ernest on his new role and thanked Peterson for his leadership and continued support during the transition. Meantime, Haynes said that he feels honoured to accept the exciting role to lead Sonoco Metal Packaging.
Haynes joined Sonoco in 1997. Over his 25-year long tenure with the company, he has held numerous leadership roles within both the Consumer and Industrial segments. He also leads the company’s Corporate Quality Council.
