Sonoco, ACE UK Join Hands to Offer Innovative Recycling Solutions

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Sonoco Consumer Products Europe has signed an agreement with the Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE UK) to offer recycling solutions across the U.K. for paper containers with metal ends. The innovative recycling solution will be offered through ACE UK’s Bring Back collection scheme.

The scheme offers a simple and effective way to recycle used paper container products including Pringles tubes, alongside food and drink cartons. Bring Banks are the large bins at recycling points found in locations such as supermarkets and retail centre car parks, household recycling centres and other public locations. There are as many as 334 recycling points in 100 local authorities across the UK.

The collected materials from Bring Banks are transported to ACE UK’s Stainland recycling facility in West Yorkshire, run by Sonoco Alcore. The recovered fibre from recycled cartons is used by the paper mill located on the same site, where they are turned into industrial coreboard.

Peter Görlitz, sustainability manager at Sonoco Consumer Products Europe commented that the  two-year agreement with the food and drink carton experts from ACE UK, reflects Sonoco’s global commitment towards continuous improvement on sustainability.
