Radius Recycling's operating performance were comparatively consistent from year to year. Due primarily to strong nonferrous demand and productivity-boosting initiatives put in place over the past year, the contribution from recycled metals improved over the previous quarter. However, the contribution of completed steel decreased year over year as a result of the weakening local steel market.
Radius Recycling's chairman and CEO, Tamara Lundgren, commented on the results, saying that even in the face of more difficult market conditions, the company's consolidated operating performance held up well against further challenges. She said that better demand in the second half of the fiscal year will be driven by seasonality and inventory accumulation.
