SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Atlanta-based leading aluminum solutions provider and recycler, Novelis, Inc. published its sustainability report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023.
The report outlines the company’s progress towards its sustainability goals. It reduced absolute carbon dioxide emissions by 14% over the previous fiscal. It must be noted that the company had set a goal to reduce emissions by 30% by 2026, upon comparison with FY2016 baseline.

The company recorded significant progress in its strategy to reduce carbon emissions by incorporating recycled aluminum into its products. During the fiscal, the company’s global operations achieved 61% recycled content across product lines. It recycled 2.3 million tonnes of aluminum during this period, including nearly 82 billion used beverage cans.
In addition, Novelis reduced waste to landfill intensity by 10% from the FY2020 baseline. It made donations amounting to $7.5 million to charitable causes.
Steve Fisher, President and Chief Executive Officer, Novelis Inc. commented that the company is proud of the achievements, especially the emissions reduction and recycled content numbers. The company has significantly expanded closed-loop recycling partnerships with customers, thus leading the industry initiative to maximize aluminum’s circularity, he added.
