SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis Inc., based in Atlanta, has unveiled its new 3x30 sustainability project, which aims to advance aluminum as the preferred material for circular solutions. The new initiative establishes ambitious carbon-related sustainability targets and priorities to fuel decarbonization and sustainability activities.
The new program adds to the company's previously declared sustainability successes. From its FY16 baseline, the company's average recycled content climbed by 10% to 63%, the highest in the industry. Furthermore, it has achieved a 27% reduction in carbon emissions.

The 3x30 effort aims to increase the average recycled content in products to 75% by 2030, up from 63% presently. Novelis Inc.'s goal for the effort is to become the lowest-emissions provider of flat-rolled products aluminum. Furthermore, it intends to continue investments aimed at shifting the industry toward circularity.
Pierre Labat, Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer at Novelis, Inc., stated that the company has made significant progress toward developing a more circular economy for aluminum. Labat noted that the success of Novelis 3x30 will be determined by the efforts of its employees as well as contributions from its customers, suppliers, and research partners.
