SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): When it comes to recovering aluminum from automobiles after they are taken off the road, Novelis Inc. has made significant strides. The firm has advanced end-of-life car recycling through several programs.
To facilitate the collection of aluminum from end-of-life cars, the company has made large investments in cutting-edge scrap sorting and segregation procedures. After several years of research, the company has developed new automotive aluminum alloys that accept higher scrap content.

Novelis and its partners have achieved great progress in the current vehicle models by utilizing aluminum with a high percentage of recycled content. The design, which makes extensive use of aluminum, is expected to result in both sustainability and lightweight. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are reduced by 95% when one pound of recycled aluminum is used in place of primary metal.
The requirement for end-of-life recycling has increased due to the popularity of electric vehicles (EVs), which use more aluminum. When electric vehicles (EVs) reach their average operational end-of-life of 12.5 years, this aluminum needs to be retrieved for use.
Novelis Inc. called upon the industry stakeholders to join hands in achieving a new reality for automotive aluminum.
