SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Atlanta-based aluminum rolling and recycling company Novelis Inc. pledged to become a net carbon-neutral company by 2050 and further reduce its carbon footprint by as much as 30% by 2026. Alongside, the company committed to become a “fully-circular” business.
The company announced plans to significantly increase the use of recycled content in its products. It will try to drive innovation to improve aluminum’s overall sustainability, by partnering with all stakeholders across the value chain. By 2026, Novelis aims to reduce waste to landfills by 20%, energy intensity by 10% and water consumption by as much as 10%, said the company press release.
By 2024, the company aims to increase woman representation in senior leadership positions by 30% and senior technical roles by 15%. To this effect, it has set up a global Diversity & Inclusion board and supporting councils in all regions. The move will help to create and foster the next generation of female scientists and engineers, said Steve Fisher, President and CEO, Novelis, Inc.
The company will continue to assist its Employee Resource Groups to help create a more inclusive work environment within the company.
