SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc.- the leader in aluminum rolling and recycling announced that it has pledged to donate $1 million to nonprofit Habitat for Humanity. This is part of the company’s 10th annual “Novelis Volunteer Month” celebrations, which lasts throughout the month.
Earlier during the year, the company had partnered with the nonprofit to launch a new joint recycling initiative, by which it had offered various grants in addition to providing recycling bins to collect nearly 2 million aluminum cans from across the U.S. and Canada. As part of the initiative, 52 participating Habitat organizations have collected more than 38,000 pounds of aluminum, equivalent to approximately 1.2 million cans.

Steve Fisher, president and chief executive officer of Novelis Inc. stated that the company is proud to support Habitat for Humanity. He also acknowledged the enthusiasm of its employees for giving back to their communities during the global volunteer month. Meantime, Julie Laird Davis, vice president of corporate and foundation relations at Habitat for Humanity said that it is pleased to have Novelis as a partner in creating stable homes and sustainable environments.
