SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Paris, France-headquartered Carbios announced that it has started construction of the previously announced pilot PET recycling plant in France. The plant demonstrates the use of proprietary enzymes to recycle waste PET plastics into monomers which can be repolymerized into PET having the same technical and physical properties as virgin PET.
According to Carbios news release, the plant, located near Lyon in France’s Chemistry Valley, is being constructed under the support and advice from UK-based TechnipFMC. The company expects to launch the initial phase of the system operations in the second quarter of 2021. This will enable the company in setting up complete engineering documents for construction of first commercial plant. The demonstration plant will validate the performance of Carbios’ innovative technology.
