Metal Recycler Announced Ambitious Expansion Plans

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Romco Metals- the UK multinational non-ferrous metal recycler announced ambitious plans for future expansions at its Ghanaian recycling plant. The plant was officially opened in February this year, with the aim of enhancing the company’s secondary metals capacity in the region.

Currently, the facility operates two furnaces that produce secondary aluminium alloy ingots for a range of automotive, aeronautical, medical, food & beverage partners. It processes almost 4,000 tonnes of non-ferrous scrap per month. The recycled aluminum and copper from the plant are being shipped to companies all over the world.

Announcing the expansion plans, Raymond Onovwigun, CEO, Romco stated that the company plans to set up additional seven recycling plants across the African region over the next five years. The expansion of recycling activities across Africa could transform the region into a recycling powerhouse. It is essential to achieve significant reduction in greenhouse gas enmissions from the region. In addition, it will add to hundreds of well-paid industry jobs, he added.

The company had recently launched several eco-initiatives, including collection of plastic waste from African rivers and delivering renewable energy to local communities.
