SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Canadian secondary aluminum producer Matalco Inc. intends to build a new recycled-content aluminum plant in Franklin, Kentucky. The announcement to this effect was made by the office of the governor of Kentucky.
Matalco will house the plant in a 460,000-square-foot facility that was formerly used by a Quad/Graphics printing operation. The new plant will have an estimated capacity of 135,000 tons per year, which will be built at an investment of approximately $53.5 million. The plant is expected to create nearly 60 quality jobs in the region and is projected to become operational by middle of next year.

Robert Roscetti, vice president, corporate development at Matalco Inc noted that the investment is in response to the demand growth for its products and services. It will help the company to expand its market share and better serve its customers. Matalco is extremely excited to enter the next phase of its corporate strategic growth plan, he added.
Commenting on the investment, Governor Andy Beshear said that he is extremely delighted to welcome Matalco to Kentucky as the latest addition to its thriving aluminum sector. Matalco will be a great fit in Kentucky as the company looks to expand its presence in the U.S. market, he added.
