SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tallinn, Estonia-headquartered wood industry company Kamoos Timber announced that it has entered into a loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in establishing a new sawmill near the city of Mozyr in Belarus.
According to company press release, the term for the loan agreement is seven years. The loan amount of 15 million euros will be utilized towards construction of the saw mill, in partial fulfilment of total estimated investment of 25 million euros. The new facility is expected to create around one hundred new jobs in the region. Also, it will nearly double the company’s total production capacity in Belarus.

Tõnu Bergmann, executive manager of Kaamos Timber noted that the company’s existing production facility in Vitebsk has a production capacity of around 250,000 cubic metres of softwood timber. The new mill would boost the capacity to nearly 450,000 cubic metres per annum. The increased production capacity will boost the company’s timber export volumes to Europe and Asian region.
The company has been associated with ERBD for a long time now. The ERBD has played a major role in the growth and expansion of the Vitebsk mill.
