SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Pact Group, Cleanaway, Asahi Beverages and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) announced that they have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build and operate a new PET recycling facility. The industry coalition will decide on the proposed plant’s location in the coming months. The construction is expected to be completed by 2023.

According to news release, the proposed facility is expected to provide massive boost to Australian recycling. It will process plastic materials collected via Container Deposit Schemes and kerbside recycling. It will process equivalent of approximately 1 billion bottles per annum and produce over 20,000 tonnes of recycled PET bottles and food packaging. The facility, which uses state-of-the-art technologies, aims to become an industry model for recycling solutions in the country.
The ground-breaking project will transform recycling in Australia. The project is in addition to the PET recycling facility currently being built by Pact Group, Cleanaway and Asahi Beverages through Circular Plastics Australia (PET) in Albury-Wodonga, which is expected to be completed later this year. Together, these facilities will deliver a truly circular economy for their consumers.
