Gravita Launched Aluminum Recycling Operations in Ghana

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The commercial production of recycled aluminum alloys has begun at Gravita India Limited's new facility in Ghana. The facility was established with an INR 6.75 crore investment that was paid for by internal accruals.

The new facility's opening is consistent with the company's plan to expand its profitable recycling operation to other parts of the world. It should be mentioned that Gravita operates comparable aluminum recycling operations in Tanzania, Togo, Senegal, Mozambique, and India.

Recyclers Ghana Limited, its step-down subsidiary, will run the new facility. In the first phase, it will have a recycling capacity of 4,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA); in the future phases of growth, that capacity will be doubled to 8,000 MTPA.

The recycling facility will primarily service the die-casting and automobile sectors in Europe and Asia by sourcing domestic aluminum scrap for manufacture. The plant will assist the corporation in increasing its contribution from one of its five business verticals, the aluminum industry.

Gravita operates 12 cutting-edge production plants with a total processing capacity of more than 300,000 MTPA all over the world. The company is present in more than 70 countries and has over 30 years of experience in recycling.
