SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): November of this year saw 146.8 million tonnes (Mt) of crude steel produced globally by 71 countries that report to the World Steel Association (worldsteel), a slight rise of 0.8% from the same month the year before.
With 107.4 Mt, Asia and Oceania was the region with the highest steel production for the month. The second-largest producer, with 10.7 Mt of output, was the EU-27. With a production of 8.5 Mt, the North American countries came in third. South America (3.4), the Middle East (5.1), Other Europe (3.4), Africa (1.8), and Russia and the rest of the CIS+ Ukraine (6.5) make up the remaining regions' output (in Mt).
The production of crude steel increased annually only in three regions: the EU-27, the Middle East, and Asia & Oceania. The EU-27 region saw the largest rise in output, up 3.9% over the previous year. The Asia & Oceania region experienced the least rise in output, rising by only 2.0%.
According to reports, production fell in every other region during the month. Russia and the rest of the CIS+ Ukraine saw the biggest decline in production, with a 7.8% decline. With declines of 5.5% and 5.2%, respectively, Other Europe and North America were the other two regions that reported significant year-over-year declines in crude steel production volumes.
African output in November of this year was 5% lower than in the same month the previous year.
