SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Following the company's recent decision to significantly lower its sustainability standards, Coca-Cola is apparently receiving a lot of criticism from professionals, environmentalists, and regular people. It should be mentioned that the business has been listed as one of the biggest plastic polluters in the world.
Coca-Cola recently announced that by 2035, it now intends to employ 35–40% recycled materials in its packaging. Compared to its previous pledge to use 50% recycled content by 2030, this is a much less amount. Additionally, the firm announced that, contrary to its previous commitment to recycle all of the bottles it produces, it now only plans to recycle up to 75% of the bottles and cans it generates by 2030.

Coca-Cola's move is reckless and shortsighted, according to Oceana's senior vice president of strategic projects, Matt Littlejohn. He emphasized that the decision was made at a time when the amount of plastic pollution in the world is increasing more quickly than it has in the past.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) estimates that every day, the equivalent of around 2,000 garbage trucks' worth of plastic is discarded into the world's rivers. Additionally, NPR research indicates that human bloodstreams are becoming more and more contaminated with microplastics. Ecosystems around the world have also been damaged by the growing amount of plastic pollution.
