SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The preliminary statistics published by the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) suggests that European paper and board output in 2019 witnessed decline, very much in line with the downtrend witnessed in the region’s economy. The paper and board production by the region reported 3.0% decline during the year, when compared with 2018.
According to CEPI, the 4% decline in European paper and board consumption followed the downtrend in EU economic growth, which slowed down from 1.9% in 2018 to 1.1% in 2019. The ongoing global instability and rising trade tensions also contributed to the decline, it noted.
