SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Call2Recycle announced new partnership with Electronic Distributors International Inc. (EDI) towards expansion of battery recycling infrastructure in Ontario. It is part of Call2Recycle’s commitment towards strategic expansion of its recycling network by adding new sorting and processing partners.

The new partnership will accelerate collection and boost Ontario’s end-of-life batteries sorting capacity by almost 30%. As part of the move, EDI’s sorting plant in Orillia, Ontario will become part of Call2Recycle’s existing battery collection and recycling network. Furthermore, the partnership aims to provide significant boost to the province’s economic growth.
Call2Recycle noted that sorting is a vital step in waste collection and recycling process, which ensures that the used batteries are properly separated. This step ensures highest quality output and minimal environmental impacts.
Joe Zenobio, President of Call2Recycle Canada said that both the companies share close visions of responsible recycling of waste materials. The Orilla sorting facility will play a key role in diverting batteries from landfills. Meantime, Norm Yorke, Managing Partner at EDI said that it is looking forward to work in partnership with Call2Recycle to help the province meet its diversion targets.
