Ball Corp. Completed Acquisition of Aluminum Extrusion Facility in Brazil

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Colorado-headquartered Ball Corporation announced that it has completed acquisition of a Brazilian aluminum extrusion facility. The acquisition of Tubex Industria E Comercio de Embalagens Ltda. of Brazil adds a total of eight aluminum extrusion lines in Brazil to its fold.

The $80 million acquisition was initially announced in the month of May this year. It also included associated contracts and other related assets.

The acquired extruded aluminum aerosol packaging business includes a manufacturing plant in Itupeva near Sao Paolo. It will now become part of the company’s aluminum aerosol packaging division, boosting its existing portfolio of operations that covers the Americas, Europe and India. All of the nearly 300 employees will also become part of Ball Corp. family. The extrusion lines at the plant produces personal care packaging products from aluminum scrap.

The investment will broaden the company’s geographic reach and help it to serve the expanding market as one of the leading aluminum aerosol suppliers in Brazil, said John A. Hayes, Chairman, President and CEO, Ball Corp. The demand for sustainable aluminum packaging is likely to witness worldwide growth, he added.
