SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Packaging major Amcor released its 2020 Sustainability Report, which says that the company made notable progress in its efforts to reduce plastic waste. The report highlights various measures taken by the company across its various businesses.
According to the report, it increased its use of postconsumer resin (PCR) to more than 83,000 metric tons during the year, representing 4.3% of total resin purchased by weight. By doing so, the company has been able to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 100,000 metric tons. Also, Amcor has significantly reduced waste disposal from operations by more than 3,200 metric tons, or 10 percent, in 2020. Furthermore, the company used 436,268 metric tons of bio-based raw materials during the current year.

Amcor reiterated its commitment to make use of innovation capabilities in order to ensure that all of its products are recyclable or reusable by 2025.
David Clark, vice president for sustainability at Amcor noted that a sustainable approach to packaging calls for infrastructure development and customer action. The report outlines the continued effort by the company to achieve more sustainable solutions.
The Amcor Sustainability Report 2020 is prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards.
