SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Aluminum Packaging Recycling Organization (Alupro) partnered in a new educational initiative aimed at boosting the collection and recycling rates of aluminum foil. The program, run by the Forest of Dean District Council, in partnership with the European Aluminum Foil Association (EAFA), will affix card hangers to as many as 37,000 refuse bins across the region.
The campaign will educate residents on which foil packaging items can be recycled and which cannot be. It will provide detailed information on best practices to prepare aluminum foil for recycling. The campaign targets significant increase in aluminum packaging recycling rates.

Councillor Sid Phelps noted that the District Council had only recently added aluminum foil to kerbside recycling services and that they are not confident about these materials, as they are with various types of metal packaging. The card hangers affixed to bins will be helpful in grabbing residents’ attention, and consequently maximise collection volumes, he added. Meantime, Tom Giddings, General Manager, Alupro hoped that the campaign will deliver hugely positive results.
Incidentally, the hangers have been fully funded by Alupro and EAFA.
