SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Aluminum Packaging Recycling Organization (ALUPRO) announced winner of the prestigious Student Starpack Awards.
The winner of the overall gold award as well as the Alupro-sponsored ‘sustainable aluminium personal grooming product & brand’ category was Mauricio Rocktaeshel, from Loughborough University. She will be awarded a cash prize of £500, in addition to a trip to the Crown Packaging Global Technology and R&D Centre in Wantage, where he will be provided with a tour of the brand packaging design and development operations.
Mauricio’s ‘One Element’ shaver brand, comprising a manual razor and a stylish packaging, both made from premium quality 100% recycled aluminum, won the award. The competition, organized by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3), has tasked the student applicants to design a personal grooming product that embodies the recyclability and sustainability features as well as shelf appeal of aluminum.
Tom Giddings, General Manager-ALUPRO noted that it was highly impressed by all of the entries, but Mauricio’s entry stood out to the judges. The extremely strong and highly attractive packaging clearly demonstrated the shelf appeal of aluminum, he added.
