SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The ALPLA Group has emerged as one of the largest PET recycling companies in Germany with the acquisition of the Bitterfeld-Wolfen-based recycling company Texplast. With this the Group’s annual processing volume in Germany has increased to 75,000 tonnes of PET bottles. Earlier in October last year, it had acquired BTB Recycling having a processing capacity 20,000 tonnes.
The acquisition was finalized on 25th February, 2022. The purchase price or any further details of the deal were not disclosed.

Commenting on the investment, Philipp Lehner, CEO, ALPLA noted that the investment will further strengthen its position in the German market and guarantee high quality and availability of the material for its customers. The expansion in Germany is part of the company’s efforts to step up its activities worldwide to meet growing demand for post-consumer recyclate.
Meantime, Georg Lasser, Head of Recycling at ALPLA welcomed all 125 Texplast employees into the ALPLA family.
Texplast processes used PET bottles to produce PET pellets and flakes. The pellets are mainly used for performs for new PET bottles. The PET flakes produced during the process are used to produce packing strap.
