SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith announced that it has collaborated with Primeale, a subsidiary of Agrial, an agricultural and food processing cooperative group to create a sustainable and plastic free punnet for the brand’s Primeale Vegetable Kit range. Fresh produce is protected throughout transportation and on the shelf thanks to the unique, creative fiber-based solution, which is completely recyclable. To guarantee product visibility, the solution consists of a clear cellulose hydrate cover and a corrugated cardboard tray made of fiber. Direct wet food contact is supported by the corrugated cardboard tray's moisture barrier. Additionally, the food is maintained at the proper temperatures and its moisture content is guaranteed by the tight and secure closure.

The new punnets can be tailored to meet a wide range of customer needs and can be put together into tiny or large components. Options for graphic design and brand promotion are available on the outside.

'The new solution is part of our overall strategy to support our customers in their transition to sustainable and circular packaging solutions,' said Benjamin Chedal, Director of Sales, Marketing & Innovation at DS Smith.

By providing its clients with cutting-edge sustainable packaging options, DS Smith has spearheaded the shift to the circular economy.
