SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith has announced a €10 million investment in production facilities and cutting-edge Bahmuller and Goepfert Maschinen (BGM) at their packaging operation in Kunheim, France.

The recently installed BGM machine is 515 m² in size, measuring 65 m in length and 11 m in width. In a single pass, it can print, die-cut, fold, and adhere large-format corrugated board sheets. It can handle formats up to 2000 and 5500 mm, produce up to 7,000 pages per hour, print in two colors, and use a variety of assembly methods. The company's dedication to leading technological innovation and advancement is demonstrated by the installation of the new equipment.

With two corrugator machines and other converting lines, the DS Smith Kunheim packaging complex can produce around 60,000 tons of packaging annually and provides a variety of packaging solutions.

'The investment will help the company to bolster its ability to provide leading, fiber-based packaging solutions,' said Thibault Laumonier, President of DS Smith Packaging in France. According to the company's Now & Next sustainability strategy, it will improve competitive industrial performance with an emphasis on environmental protection and carbon reduction, he continued.
