SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith announced that it has partnered with leading home appliance company Versuni to create an innovative packaging solution for their recently launched Philips Baristina coffee machine.
The company press release noted that the newly developed fibre-based, sustainable, bespoke packaging is completely recyclable. The box is free from plastic bags. Also, the packaging solution contains corrugated buffers with anti-scratch coating in order to prevent external blemishes. The concept was designed by the experienced teams at DS Smith and Versuni, it said.
The designers at DS Smith measured the overall performance of the packaging solution for Versuni’s Philips Baristina coffee machine using its Circular Design Metrics (CDM) tool. The tool enabled the company to rate the impact of packaging design across eight key performance indicators, which in turn helped it to identify the focus areas while designing the innovative product.
Thoran Ottens, Divisional Key Account Manager, Electronics, DS Smith noted that the product solution was designed with an objective to create a high-end visual impact for the shelf and online and also keeping with the desires for sustainable packaging.
