SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): For the week ending November 16, 2024, U.S. weekly raw steel production decreased by about 3.8%, according to the most recent weekly domestic production figures published by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). This is upon comparison with the corresponding week a year before.
The United States produced 1.623 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel each week. The domestic mill capability was utilized at a rate of 73.1%. It is crucial to keep in mind that production reached 1.687 million NT during the same week last year, with a slightly higher capacity utilization rate of 73.4%.

Additionally, there was a modest 1.6% drop in crude steel production from the previous week. A total of 1.649 million NT were produced during the previous week, which concluded on November 9, 2024, with a capability utilization rate of 74.2%.
The Southern region produced the most, at 669,000 net tons. The Great Lakes region produced 583,000 net tons during the week. Other regions' productions (in thousand net tons) are North East-120, Midwest-200, and Western-51.
With a capability utilization rate of 76.0%, the adjusted year-to-date output as of November 16, 2024, was 77.383 million net tons. This is a 2.1% drop from the production of 79.047 million net tons and the capacity utilization rate of 76.1% in the corresponding year-to-date period of 2023.
