worldsteel Announced steelChallenge-18 World Championship Finalists

The finalists will now be invited to the World Championship in April 2024.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) announced steelChallenge-18 World Championship Finalists. The winners were selected from the Regional Championship held online on 29th November 2022, which saw participation of nearly 1,649 participants from more than 50 companies and 77 academic institutions from 34 countries.

The finalists from ‘Student’ Category are: Matic Bobnar of University of Ljubljana, Joao Pedro Tabosa of Universidade Federal do Ceara, Srinivasan D of Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, Cheng Jun Han of Tangshan Vocational and Technical College of Science and Technology and Ji Hyeok Lee of Dong-A University.

Meantime, the regional champions who qualified for the finals from ‘Industry’ Category are: Katie Abraham of Tata Steel, Caio Andrade of ArcelorMittal Pecem, Mihir Mandal of Tata Steel, Wei Li Bu of HBIS Group Co. and Jinho Kang- an independent consultant, the worldsteel press release said.

The finalists will now be invited to the World Championship in April 2024. Also, all participants completing a successful run of the integrated simulator will receive a certificate of accomplishment.

The steelChallenge-18 is being supported by 14 companies and associations with the aim of promoting innovation, education and sustainability in global steel industry.
