SAIL Bhilai Steel Plant Output Surged in Current Fiscal Year

The plant reported 9% surge in sinter production during Apr-Nov ’23.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Steel Authority of India’s Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) recorded notable uptrend in production during the first eight month period of the current fiscal year. The state-run steelmaker witnessed all-round growth during the period from April to November this year.

The oven pushing rate stood at 782 oven per day in April to November this year. This is significantly higher by 16% upon comparison with the rate of 674 recorded during the corresponding period a year before.

The plant reported 9% surge in sinter production during Apr-Nov ’23. The production totalled 56,87,000 T during this period, as compared with  52,27,000 T in corresponding period of last fiscal year. The blast furnace hot metal production recorded 15% year-on-year surge from 33,86,000 T to 38,93,000 T.

The crude steel production by the plant recorded 14% growth over the previous year. The steel melting shops produced 36,88,000 T crude steel in April to Nov 2023 period as compared to 32,32,000 T a year before. The plant’s saleable steel production too were up by 15% from 29,93,000 T in April to November 2022 to 34,35,000 T in Apr-Nov ’23.

The long and flat steel loaded for despatch witnessed growth by 15.7% from 29,61520 T to 34,26,040 T.
