Alcoa Signed Long-Term Alumina Supply Agreement with Emirates Global Aluminum

The agreement is expected to commence in 2024 and is likely to extend for a period of eight years.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Alcoa and Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) signed a new multi-year supply agreement. Accordingly, Alcoa will supply EGA with smelter grade aluminum on a long-term basis.

The agreement is expected to commence in 2024 and is likely to extend for a period of eight years. This will see EGA procuring approximately 15.6 million metric tons of alumina from Western Australia. This will account for a major chunk of Alcoa’s third party alumina sales. Further to this agreement, Alcoa will become EGA’s largest third-party supplier of alumina, the Alcoa company press release said.

The contract provides options to EGA to choose EcoSource alumina- Alcoa’s industry-leading low-carbon alumina brand to be supplied to its operating smelters and alumina refinery in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Roy Harvey, President and CEO, Alcoa noted that the contract, the largest alumina supply contract ever signed between Alcoa and EGA, will strengthen the long-term supply relationship between the two companies. The company is proud to be recognized with significant alumina supply volumes, he added.

The company’s own production, coupled with long-term supplies by Alcoa, will secure most of its alumina needs into the next decade, noted Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer, EGA.
