Novelis Aluminum Korean Facilities Becomes Fully Certified by ASI

The Korean operations of the company produces high-quality, value-added rolled aluminum products at its plant in Yeongju and joint venture site in Ulsan.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis Inc. announced that all of its Korean operations have achieved full certification by the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI). This essentially means that all aluminum supplied by Novelis Korea is produced through ASI-certified operations.

The Korean operations of the company produces high-quality, value-added rolled aluminum products at its plant in Yeongju and joint venture site in Ulsan. The rolled aluminum products from Korean facilities are now sourced and produced in accordance with the ASI Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard, the company press release said. Having got both these certifications, Novelis will now be able to supply independently certified, sustainable aluminium products.

The company is in efforts to achieve ASI certifications for all its facilities worldwide. Apart from Korea, its European operations are fully certified by ASI. The Pindamonhangaba plant in Brazil, South America had recently earned ASI's Performance Standard Certification. Novelis is currently in efforts to get its North American operations certified by ASI.

Novelis has committed to reduce its carbon footprint by 30% by 2026 and to be carbon neutral by 2050.
