SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc. announced that it has joined the First Movers Coalition (FMC)- a leading global initiative that targets to decarbonize eight "hard to abate" sectors. By becoming part of the coalition, the company will reiterate its commitment to promote use of clean energy technologies in aluminum manufacturing process, which promises to reduce carbon emissions significantly.

It serves as a platform for creating innovative clean energy technologies, with the ultimate aim of achieving net zero global carbon emissions by 2050.
By becoming part of the coalition, near 10% of its primary aluminum purchases be near-zero by 2030. The FMC pledge includes an assurance that at least 50% of all aluminum Novelis uses is from recycled sources, by 2030.
Steve Fisher, President and Chief Executive Officer, Novelis Inc. said that the company is eager to continue its efforts to decarbonize the aluminum industry, as well as support decarbonization in numerous adjacent industries relying on aluminum, by joining the First Movers Coalition.
