LIBERTY Steel Launched Green Industrial Skills Programme in Rotterham
Apart from developing STEM skills, the students will also be trained to build on their communication and presentation skills.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): GFG Foundation announced that it has launched a new programme for green industrial skills at its Liberty Steel Rotterham steel plant. The 16-week long programme offers students a rare chance to develop skills for the growing green jobs market.
The participating students will be mentored by five Liberty Steel employees at Rotterham in collaboration with partners Engineering Development Trust. The programme, which will focus on sustainability, will help students navigate the expanding green jobs market. Apart from developing STEM skills, the students will also be trained to build on their communication and presentation skills.

The programme is open to 20 students in Class 9 and 10 of two local Rotterham schools-Wath Academy and St. Bernard’s Catholic High School. The programme sets the task of designing ‘A Renewable Rotterham’.
Claire Neilson, Manager, GFG Foundation noted that investing in future generations is critical to a sustainable future. The programme will help young people to build real-life experiences to navigate the ever-changing and evolving industrial world. The company is excited to see the programme launch in Rotterham, he added.
