Trade Body Launched Latest Monthly Tracking Report on Aluminum Imports
The report comprises a breakdown of aluminum import license applications, which are classified based on product type and country.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Aluminum Association announced launch of its monthly tracking report providing insights and analysis on the Aluminum Import Monitoring (AIM) program administered by the Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration (ITA).
The report comprises a breakdown of aluminum import license applications, which are classified based on product type and country. It also provides detailed spreadsheets will all relevant data until the end of February this year.

According to the report, the unprecedented jump in license applications from Italy led to 184% surge in imports of tube & pipe fitting products over the three-month Census average. The South African import license volumes totalled 22,775 metric tons, significantly higher by 302% over the three-month Census average. Also, the Chinese import license volumes, at 23,981 metric tons, were up by 24% over the three-month census average, the tracking report said.
Charles Johnson, president & CEO of the Aluminum Association noted that the AIM program acts as a warning tool for the aluminum industry to track trade flows and enforce trade laws. The monthly report will help the industry identify market trends in near real time, he added.
