AF&PA Declared Top Advocacy Priorities

The Association noted that paper recycling rate in the U.S. has met or exceeded 63% in every year since 2009.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  The Board of Directors of the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) announced top advocacy priorities for the current year that will ensure the industry’s sustainability success and economic impact.

According to AF&PA, the members surpassed most sustainability goals for 2020. It achieved significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and delivered increased production of renewable and recyclable products. Also, the members expanded its water stewardship efforts.

The Association noted that paper recycling rate in the U.S. has met or exceeded 63% in every year since 2009. The completed and announced infrastructure investments by the industry from 2019 to 2023 of around $5 billion will help to boost the amount of recovered paper by approximately 8 million tons.

Heidi Brock, President and CEO, AF&PA said that the industry is committed not to waver in its commitment to continued success of paper recycling and environmental stewardship. The industry is committed to advance policy issues so as to achieve greater success, she added. The advocacy success is largely dependent on its sustainability goals, said Christian Fischer, Board Chair, AF&PA.
