The 154,000 square-foot facility will have capacity to process 30,000 metric tons of discarded lithium-ion batteries and scrap per year. The opening of the facility will help to meet the rising demand for sustainable battery recycling infrastructure in the region. The facility, built at an investment of $43 million, is expected to bring at least 150 jobs to the community.
Michael O’Kronley, CEO and Director of Battery Resourcers said that the convenient U.S. location near EV manufacturing hubs and lithium-ion gigafactories coupled with its next-generation technology will provide a sustainable solution to help minimize the need for mining and returning battery-grade materials back into the supply chain.
