Smurfit Kappa Launched Innovative Thermo-Laminated Sustainable Film

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Smurfit Kappa Ibi facility in Spain announced use of a new and more sustainable thermo-laminated metallised film to be used in producing bags. The use of M-Compact 77 film is said to reduce bag weight by 12% and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 7%. The innovative product is highly environment-friendly and resource efficient, which makes it unique.
The M-Compact 77 thermo-laminated film is a new addition to the vast portfolio of films offered by Smurfit Kappa Bag-In-Box in response to market and supply chain requirements. It complements the range of flexible materials offered by the company. The Bag-In-Box plant in the town of Ibi, Alicantina, Spain hosts specialized machinery towards systematic assembly of bags, spouts and taps.
Victor Juan, Film Manager at Smurfit Kappa Ibi noted that the company has been in the process of developing the film over the past two years. The new product guarantees excellent performance, especially during transport. The recent investment in advanced technologies and research and development has helped the company to make significant progress towards its environmental goals, said Pascual Martinez, General Manager of Smurfit Kappa Ibi.
