Smurfit Kappa Completed Acquisition of Folding Carton Company in Mexico

All the 240 employees from Cartonbox will now be part of the Smurfit Kappa family, it noted.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Smurfit Kappa- Europe’s leading corrugated packaging company announced that it has completed acquisition of Cartonbox, a folding carton company located in Monterrey, Mexico.

The acquisition will further expand its footprints in the country and strengthen its customer offering. Prior to this acquisition, the company had three folding carton operations in Mexico, located in the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City and in Tijuana.

According to company press release, the acquisition marks an important milestone for the company. In addition to expanding its footprint of folding carton locations to four, it demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to paper-based packaging. All the 240 employees from Cartonbox will now be part of the Smurfit Kappa family, it noted.

The facility employs state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to produce wide range of innovative folding carton packaging solutions. It will enable direct supply of packaging solution to its customers in the northern region of the company.

The new acquisition will allow the company to answer to its customers’ needs and expectations. It will be a step forward in its journey to become the leading paper-based packaging company in Mexico.
