Metals Recycler Announced Notable Progress on its New Port Location
In addition, the site will accept all grades of ferrous as well as nonferrous metals, at better prices.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): UK-based metals recycling firm EMR Ltd. reported progress on its innovative King George V deep-sea port facility near Glasgow, Scotland. The development of the waterfront site is expected to transform the company’s operations in Scotland.
The proximity to the port will facilitate transfer of materials in the most cost-effective and environment-friendly manner. Unlike the company’s existing metal recycling facilities in Scotland, the new deep-sea dock will be capable of handling bulk carriers. It will result in reduction in carbon emissions per metric ton of scrap carried by one-fifth, compared to smaller vessels. In addition, the site will accept all grades of ferrous as well as nonferrous metals, at better prices.

In a news release, Gary Barrett, area general manager-EMR noted that the King George V development marks the beginning of a new era for Glasgow’s docks. The innovative facility will not only benefit customers, but also create new high-quality jobs in the region. The company is committed to continue with its ongoing investments at the nearby South Street and Bellshill sites, he added.
EMR considers the investment as a huge investment in the future of Glasgow’s economy and the U.K.’s recycling industry in general.
