DS Smith Surpassed Community Engagement Target for the Year
The company press release said that as many as 166 sites engaged with their communities as of 30th April, 2021.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith announced that it has achieved the community engagement target for 2020/21 outlined in its Now and Next sustainability strategy. As part of the strategy, all DS Smith sites with 50 or more employees were required to complete at least one community project during the year. The company press release said that as many as 166 sites engaged with their communities as of 30th April, 2021.

As part of Covid-19 community projects, the company manufactured and donated corrugated cardboard multipurpose bedside tables to IFEMA field hospital in Madrid. DS Smith donated 7,000 e-commerce packages for disinfectants. It partnered with Carrefour to manufacture over 1,000 toy models of helicopters and planes for children, donated 75,000 boxes to SalutetheNHS.org’s campaign and donated benches made from recycled plastics to temporary hospital in Wales.
The company helped Pais Dezso Elementary School in Hungary to build a new eco-classroom. It also developed a circular economy educational package benefiting approximately 200,000 Dutch school children every year. Furthermore, it designed and delivered an educational programme to teach children in Romania about sustainability and the circular economy.
