Trade Body Evaluates Latest World Scrap Market Trends
The ferrous scrap market in India continues to face uncertainties as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise day by day.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has published its latest review of scrap markets around the world.
According to BIR, the recycling industry has returned to normal in China. However, the industry participants are concerned about the new qualification standard for various scrap material imports into the country including copper and brass. Even though Chinese authorities are yet to publish details, several shipping companies have halted scrap cargo bookings to that country.
The ferrous scrap market in India continues to face uncertainties as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise day by day. The e-scrap operations in the country are reported to have returned to normal levels. The economic recovery in the country depends on the success by the government in curbing rising pandemic situation in the country, BIR notes.
The non-ferrous metal scrap generation has witnessed notable improvement in Mexico. The rising Covi-19 cases continue to impact German market.
Across Europe, there has been gradual improvement in paper scrap collection and demand, especially driven by robust mill demand. Other markets including Indonesia, India, Thailand, Vietnam and China too have been witnessing elevated demand levels during the past one to two months.
