Western Disposal is a locally-owned company offering trash, recycling and composting services to Boulder and Broomfield Counties since 1970. We assist our customers in responsibly managing their waste and offer safe, clean, dependable and professional service. We pursue best practices in environmental sustainability via our on-site operations and our investment in energy-efficient technologies. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you!
We realize you have a choice about who will provide the collection service for your trash, recyclable and compostable materials. Why should you choose Western Disposal over our competitors? For three reasons:
Our Service is borne of an attention to detail, safety and customer service.
Our Community Focus includes innovative partnerships with local governments regarding their community’s specific waste reduction goals as well as a charitable giving philosophy that targets children and those in our community needing basic resources to succeed in life.
Our Employees are the hub of our efforts: their training, their talent, their pride in being the providers of our Service and Community Focus make them the most valuable part of our company.
When you work with Western Disposal, you have chosen a partner you can be proud of.
Hauling your own trash? Why take the time to drive all the way to a landfill? We operate a convenient public disposal site at our facility on the eastern edge of the city of Boulder. Come to our Trash & Recycle Center at 5880 Butte Mill Rd in Boulder, CO. We accept trash, scrap metal, recyclable material, scrap lumber and more. Cleaning up the yard? Western operates the yard and wood waste drop off site on behalf of the City of Boulder and Boulder County; residents recieve a 40% discount.
Recycling provides direct, tangible benefits to your community and your environment. The business of recycling creates jobs, spurs investment and sparks innovation. Environmentally, it conserves natural resources, saves energy, and reduces pollution. The EPA estimates that 75% of our waste is recyclable – 75%! That’s a lot of power to do good, right in your hands, just by choosing the right bin and occasionally, thinking outside the bin.
Recyclables
For residents who are not our regular collection customers, businesses with occasional recycling needs or anyone looking to recycle conveniently in Boulder, our Trash & Recycle Center accepts many common materials.
Most of the waste stream is made up of recyclable or compostable materials. If you have clean recyclable items you can drop them off for no charge at our Trash and Recycle Center located at 5880 Butte Mill Rd in Boulder.
We accept materials listed in our guidelines; other items may be accepted at the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials.
Western customers recycle over 500,000 pounds of metals and appliances through our facility each year. If you bring us your clean segregated scrap metal and appliances, rather than taking them to a landfill or putting them out for trash, you avoid waste and save virgin materials for future generations.
That’s the amount of waste generated by the average American – 60% more than in 1960. Of course, we inhabit a completely different world; our global economy depends on sturdy packaging to survive shipping around the world, our fast-paced lives call for take-out, frozen dinners and fast food and technology delivers the next “must have” in a matter of months rather than years.
We can’t turn back the clock, but we can shift our behavior. Simply by being thoughtful about our consumption, practical about our discards, and committing to reducing, reusing, recycling and composting as much as possible, we can make a powerful, immediate impact.
Western is committed to continued partnership with our community to pave “The Way To A Better Environment”.
